Typhoid Shot for Egypt?

Not as far as Belgian recommendations are concerned.

I see my original message was never posted, so here it is: I read in the posting on pound conversion about getting polio, tetanus, Hep A and typhoid shots for Egypt. My local travel doctor had the same list, but said that typhoid shots were optional because they were not all that effective and typhoid was easily curable with antibiotics. Do any of you Egypt experts out there know if it is safe to skip the typhoid shots? Also, is there really a polio risk in Egypt now? Thanks.

Hi Myriam,
We had to get Hep A and a diptheria, tetanus, polio combined booster shot here in Canada for Egypt. It really depends where you are going. If you'll be in Cairo/Nile cruise area, typhoid is not needed. Good to have a look at the Center for Disease Control website for all the best info- www.cdc.gov.com
Happy travels

Thanks. I found the CDC site really confusing. I wish you could just look up "Egypt" and get a list.
