Two days in Cairo
My wife and I have opted for a two day stay in Cairo[Nov 16-18] before a Greek cruise. What beside the obvious tour of pyramids and Sphynx should we see/do?? Any hotel recommendatons would be appreciated. Thanks DAP1206

We will be in Cairo later this month and plan to stay at the Mena House, which is about 1/2 mile from the pyramids. We've heard nothing but wonderful things about the hotel! It might be a little pricey for a quick stay but with views of the pyramids from the pool, it's at least worth a quick look online. http://www.oberoimenahouse.com/Hotel...-Overview.aspx Another one that I've heard good things about is the Heliopolis, which is just outside of Cairo near the airport. http://www.fairmont.com/heliopolis ...and regarding the Nile River Cruise, our travel agent went on one last fall. She said it was a lot of fun and recommended it to us. I'm not sure if it's the same one though. Hope this helps!

Nile Dinner Cruises are fun, but very very touristy, and better with a group of people you enjoy being with. The food is typical buffet food (except on the Nile Maxim where they do allow about 4 choices off a menu, but is MORE expensive than the others) and the entertainment can be cheesy but entertaining if you are in a mood for a belly dancer, a touristy whirling dervish and some loud Egyptian dance music.
I bet without too much trouble you could find a YouTube video of one to see what they are like before going. |
Thanks for the info. I have posted another question on a different Forum, but will ask it here. Which credit card works best in Cairo or the Mediterranian Islands for that matter. Are there any fee free services?? dap1206

I find working with tourists that VISA tends to be the most widely accepted card.
Some (more than I ever expect) take AMEX And sometimes people will want to use MC. fee free service? Don't think so. Don't really know about that. |
What do you mean by "fee free"? If you mean no foreign transaction fee, the only cards that offer that are from Capital One.
