TV shows to help me learn my animals?

This is so embarrassing to ask, but:

Are there some TV shows you'd recommend watching to help me beef up on my animal identification before the trip to Kenya? I can tell the difference between a Thompson's gazelle and a wildebeast, but that might be about it!! Already rented "Africa the Serengetti" and two or three other videos.

There are web sites with good pictures which will help. But honestly I wouldn't worry about it, after a few days you'll have them all down pat.

Cheryl,

A more efficient way is to get yourself a good field guide (book).

I think you've covered the video angle. You could also check out from the library or buy a field guide on the animals.

Most guides point out the animals by name anyway.

Have a great trip!

I agree with others about getting a good field guide on animals and possibly one on birds as well and bring them with you. I found myself referring to both all the time while on safari.

a good guide will name the animals, no matter how many times you ask about the same animal. (bushbuck, kudu, puku, impala in my case...)

Sounds good. I saw recommended books posted here. I'll find that and hit amazon.

Thanks!
