I just returned from touring throught Tunisia with Mahdia Voyages. The manager Ali Youssif, gave personal attention to every detail of the tour, both meeting us at arrival and departure. We were treated to a tour of Tunisia that gave us a taste of each region and a country with friendly people, great food, beautiful scienery, a truly fun and wonderful experience. Our guide, Mohamed Hazgui shared with us his pride and love for his country. I would recommend touring Tunisia highly and hope to return.

Wow, a Tunisia post! I'll be their in December, and this is my tentative schedule:

Day 1: arrive around noon (nothing planned that day after long flight from NY via Milan)

Day 2: Tunis Medina and Bardo Museum

Day 3: Dougga

Day 4: El Jem (and maybe Sousse if time)

Day 5: Carthage

Day 6: early morning departure

I'll be staying in Tunis and doing trips from there. Are there any nearby highlights that I should consider? Also, can you recommend a Tunis hotel (I'm looking for something historic and central, and not one of the large hotels -- I'm considering Carlton or Majestic, which are in historic buildings and are not that large).
