Tuk Tuk Stellies and general tips for Stellenbosch, South Africa

Hello Fodorites, we are planning a trip to South Africa and will spend a few days in Stellenbosch. We have heard of this new company called Tuk Tuk Stellies through which guided tours through the winelands can be arranged. As yet I have not been able to find their website, only a FB page. I was hoping to find our more via this forum.
Any other information e.g. on restaurants in Stellenbosch that are not to be missed is most welcome.

If you are staying in Cape Town, there isn't any need to spend a couple of days in Stellenbosch IMO unless you want to. It is easily seen as a day trip. I would recommend renting a car and visiting the vineyards yourself, based on which wines you are interested in. The tourist office in Stellenbosch has wine routes and information on the wineries, we picked ours based on the grape varieties we like. Thus we found small wineries that were not very commercialised and some did not even charge for tasting although we did buy some bottles and packed them in our suitcases.

Picnics that are prepared by wine farm kitchens are a lovely way to have lunch in the vineyard. Also a visit to Paarl and Franschhoek are not to be missed. We just came back from visiting Cape Town yesterday.

Thanks for your reply, Odin. Since 1974 my husband and I have traveled extensively in South Africa and we know our way around the wine lands. This is actually meant for our son and his wife who will visit for the first time. They are not familiar with the area so we thought we'd offer them a treat enabling them go off together for two days while we take care of the two grandchildren.
It's not so much about the wine tasting itself but more about getting a general idea of the area which of course is stunning.
