Mbuzi Mawe Camp, Serengeti

Does anyone have knowledge of this camp? I did a google search and couldn't find much. We were scheduled for 3 days at Migration Camp, but our tour company (Roy Safaris) has just advised us that there was a fire that damaged large parts of Migration Camp, so we are going to stay at Mbuzi Mawe. Too bad, I was really looking forward to Migration Camp!

Anyway, we only have 2 weeks before we leave, and I am curious about Mbuzi Mawe. Appreciate any information you can provide.

I've heard of this camp but not been there myself. If not mistaken, it's owned by Ranger Safaris and is their private camp in the Serengeti. I would think it's fine, but don't know it's location either.
Too bad about Migration Camp.

It is south of Migration Camp and small, I think only 10 tents or so. I think dama86 is right about it being a Ranger Safaris property. You should be fine there.

Mbuzi Mawe is a small tented camp in the Serengeti, max guests 20. Sorry I don't have a link to offer for you to see what the place looks like. That said, Roy Safaris is offering you a comparable camp, considering the unfortunate circumstance of a fire at Migration Camp. Migration Camp, in fact, was in the process of being rebuilt as it recently came under new ownership. I'm sure you'll be well satisfied with the alternative, especially on such short notice. A number of other major tour operators do use this property for their clients. And you'll still be in the perfect spot for watching the migration more from the Serengeti into the Mara. Enjoy your holiday.

I know this is long after the fact (the original posting was almost a year ago), however, I found a link on the web for this property. Apparently, it is a Serena Hotels property. Here's the link:
http://www.serenahotels.com/tanzania/mbuzi/home.htm
Hope this helps someone else doing research on Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp!

By Wendy; We refused to stay at Mbuzi Mawe last July because it was so awful. However, your new link shows that it has been totally rebuilt and looks like a class place now. I'm interested to hear from anyone who has been there lately.

As I have previously mentioned, we are scheduled to stay there for 2 nights in early June. I have been reassured a dozen times by my travel agent (as well as Ranger safaris in Tanzania) that this property is NOT related to the one previously mentioned (and panned) in this forum. Supposedly, it is entirely newly built and now managed by Serena. I'm counting on that. I'll post when I return.
