i hope not, I already had to rebook and file and insurance claim bc of nationwide so hopefully Zambian can hold out until the end of October at a minimum.

The plot thickens. Pilots meetings behind hanger doors. More rumors. A strike in the wind?

i contacted my outfitter and was told that these things happen quite frequently. they don't see any need for a rush to change the flights to proflight.

so i calm down again

??? What does that mean? The pilots continue to fly without being paid? Where does that happen? Zimbabwe? Not even there. Forget the fact they aren't paying their bills. The pilots know that the safari industry is busy in Africa and hiring. Why stick it out with a loser?

Saturday Zambian Airways suspended operations.

Nobody should be surprised.

I got this email on Friday:

We are still waiting for written confirmation from Zambian Airways on this notification, but feel that it is important enough to warrant sending out an advanced warning; as per information received from NowMedia, Zambian Airways will be cancelling its Livingstone flights with immediate effect! The new schedules are a direct result of the current global aviation and financial situation. We have been told that the airline will be making alternate arrangements for those passengers who have already paid for tickets. Zambian Airways’ domestic schedules will also be adjusted to match the new regional network, as well as focus on the key domestic business routes between Lusaka and the Copperbelt and Solwezi.”

Yes, they have definately gone under
please see as below

Zambia's privately-owned carrier Zambian Airways said on Saturday it had suspended operations with immediate effect, citing high fuel costs over the last year-and-a-half and the need to restructure its operations.

The airline said in a notice to passengers at Lusaka airport that it had experienced difficulties after jet fuel rose 100 percent in the last 18 months, increasing its operational costs by 50 percent.

"This created a lot of problems for Zambian Airways as a growing business. In the interest of our stakeholders and our employees, we have decided with immediate effect to suspend all our operations until further notice," it said.

Zambian Airways is an independent airline operating flights to destinations in Zambia, as well as to Johannesburg, Lubumbashi and Dar-es-Salam

should add: our concern in nov led to cancelling all zam air flights and flew proflight which was a very good choice. no regrets.
