Thanks Tom. Interesting about Carolyn's daughter and the Olympics. I see the pro VB players here in Hermosa Beach all the time. Just the other day I passed Kerri Walsh walking on the Strand and Gabrielle Reese was filming something...this is the beach VB capital of the world

Today it was over 90 degrees at the beach and they were all out playing in their bikinis (as my friend in Colorado sent me a photo of their first snowstorm). We could see the fires in Malibu last night, this weather is so eerie! I feel bad for all the people that have lost their homes. (Sorry to ramble on) Back to Africa!

Carla, interesting that you would recognize Kerri, you must follow the sport some. Carolyn's daughters name is Elaine Youngs, EY for short.

The fires are unbelievable, nothing near me that I can even see a hint of. But can smell smoke in the air.

Hi Tom and thanks for that nice report and great pics too. I particularly enjoyed reading as I am off to Kruger with my wife and two children in April 2008 for 7 nights and will be staying at BnD 3 nights, Satara 2 nights and Oliphants 2 nights. Post Kruger I have 3 nights to still plan out and was considering staying at Zuleika country house and using that as a base to tour the panoramic route region. Appreciate any thoughts or sugesstion you have for the post kruger 3 nights.

Thereafter I leave for Cape Town for 4 nights.

Mohammed - thanks, glad you enjoyed my report and photos. Kruger Satara and Oliphants are two good camps you will enjoy. This was our first time exploring outside the park and I'm sure you will enjoy the area. We all liked the Zuleika Country House, very comfortable, very nice helpful staff, and reasonable cost. Hoedspruit is a nice town with all the services you will need. There are others here on the forum that are much more familiar with the area and if you put up a post with that subject I'm sure you'll get many other suggestions. Have fun.

Hi Tom,

Fantastic photos! So glad to see the Eyrefield cubs are doing well. What amazing shots of various kills- thanks for posting! My husband and I stayed at Mala Mala in July and your photos allowed me to relive the always fabulous MM experience. Counting the days 'til we return!
