manikstym:

I had seen the program about the eles. that were killing the rhinos on an earlier program. When they brought the big adult bulls in, the young bulls learned from them and stopped killing the rhinos.

Also saw another super program on National Geographic Channel around the third week in July named "Elephant Rage". It was an excellent program dealing with the reasons why there are an increased number of elephants killing people, which I copied to DVD and took to some of the elephant experts in Kenya while I was there. It even dealt with post-traumatic stress in the elephants who, due to what humans have done to them, have undergone incredible stress.

The old saying, "Mother Nature knows best" may still be true. Often what we do thinking we will improve the animal's lives ends up being the wrong thing.

What a marvelous report (and continuing thread) Jan -- Whenever our next trip to Africa is, I think we will head to East Africa. I would like to avoid situations, however, with 30-some vehicles in one spot. I'm off now to check your url links THANKS!
