Trip report from non-Fodorites
Scott Burdick and Susan Lyon are two extremely talented painters here in North Carolina. I had the priviledge of drawing with them once and was blown away...
In June, they spent seven weeks in Africa. They just posted their trip report on their website. I thought you all might enjoy viewing a report from people outside the Fodor's world. It's quite beautiful, although lacking any itinerary detail. Just pure visual loveliness and entertainment. What could be bad? enjoy, anita http://scottburdick.com/france20061.htm |
Wow---I just looked at all of these photos. Thanks for sharing. A different kind of report for sure--I liked how much it was just about her reflections.
My favorite two photos--the one of the kids peering into the van while she's looking at a map. And her description of being terrified to know how much further their trek would be when they reached some ridge where she could see across. Thanks for sharing. |
Katie, glad you enjoyed! I can't wait to see some of Susan and Scott's paintings from their trip. Susan mentioned that they'd withheld their best Africa photos to use for that purpose. I'll be checking their website for art updates. Actually, that's something Fodorites might also be interested in.

Simply stunning photographs. What a remarkable adventure! I love the lion who looks like he needs a comb! Thanks for pointing to this site, Anita.

Wow - Africa from a very different perspective. Thanks for posting this, I really enjoyed the Africa blog and will check out India later.

Beautiful photos. Just when I think I've licked the Africa bug, kicked the habit for good, I see something like this and I know I must return.
Thanks for sharing the blog, Anita. |

amazing, thank you.

You're welcome, everyone! I really hesitated posting it, I'm always afraid of breaching "Fodor's etiquette" and/or offending someone(s). So glad you enjoyed!

How could anyone be offended? I little jealous, yes, but not offended. A beautiful pictoral report.

Glad you enjoyed, Lynn! Did you check out their gallery? They've already posted some gorgeous African paintings. I'm sure there'll be more, soon.
