Trip booked - will provide trip report in December! Kenya/Tanzania/Rwanda
Hello! I'm so excited that my parents, brother and I are going back to Africa after our "trip of a lifetime" in 2007. I wanted to share our itinerary with you all and provide a write-up for anyone interested after we return. We trolled the forums a bit in planning this one, so thank you all for your write-ups, information and advice!
We are leaving mid-November, returning in the beginning of Dec.
Bert from Fish Eagle Safaris helped us with this one, and the 2007 trip. Great experiences with them!
Day 1: Depart SFO
Day 2: Arrive Amsterdam, spend one night there. Get out into the sun (hopefully) check out a museum or two, shower, sleep.
Day 3: Arrive Kilimanjaro
- 1 night KIA Lodge
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater
- Road transfer from KIA Lodge to Plantation Lodge. Overnight at Plantation Lodge for 2 nights on Full Board basis.
- Afternoon game drive to Lake Manyara National Park.
Day 5: Ngongoro Crater
- Full day crater outing with picnic on crater floor.
Day 6: fly to NBO, fly to Masaai Mara
- 5 nights Mara Intrepids Tented Camp
Day 11: fly to Chyulu Hills: Campi ya Kanzi
- 5 nights Campi ya Kanzi
- I think one of these nights is spent outdoors - this was one of our favorite parts of the Botswana/Zambia trip (Sleeping hide @ Chitabe)
Day 16: fly to JKIA, fly to Kigali - Rwanda
- Lunch at Laico Umubano, 2 hr drive to Kinigi.
- 2 nights Gorilla Mountain View Lodge.
Day 17: Gorilla trek!! (so excited)
Day 18:
- gorilla trek
- drive 2 hrs to Kigali Serena, 1 night
Day 19:
- Fly Nigali > Nairobi > Amsterdam > SFO
Day 20:
- Arrive SFO, happy and super jet lagged!
