Trick or Treat
 

That safari vest, along with some convertible trousers, boots, Tilley hat, and binocs makes for a fine Halloween costume. I didn't know if I was set for trick or treating or for Tarangire!

I realize this post lacks international appeal.

That is so funny Lynn - one Halloween about 3 years ago our son asked his dad if one of his friends could borrow his Tilley hat, his vest, & his binoculars to go to the pub - he looked great!

And I will bet you did too! We'd like pictures.....

Pretty funny, Lynn. I'm taking my kids over to a friends house tomorrow (our neighborhood is very boring). She called me last night to say she bought a costume to wear to hand out candy. I didn't think I had a costume but thanks to you, I do.

I think we should be able to wear this attire all the time - who needs an excuse. The vest could eliminate the need for those expensive designer bags.
Although I'll have to get a new hat as my dog(Tony)has taken mine over when kayaking.

I was definitely hoping the people at Rocco's SoCal GTG would have been decked out in The Vest, The Hat, The Khakis (zip-off to shorts!), etc. A costume party. Y'all disappointed me.

I must confess that I didn't do the whole Hemmingway attire thing in Africa. I was probably the only tatti black capri flip flop wearing person in the sea of khaki.

I love the idea of the outfit as everyday wear. How delightfully eccentric. And then you could spew a few canned phrases like, "Bloody hot in Keeenya this time of year." "Hunting kudu are you?" "Shame about the puncture in the Serengeti."

Here's another costume idea to allow more $$ into the safari fund. Dress up as paper or plastic. Just hang some paper and plastic grocery bags on yourself. I got the idea from a local grocery bagger.

Leely, it should indeed be the required uniform at the SoCal GTG and I'd love to see a group photo.

Ha, I actually have a client who wears such gear daily. She does call it Keenya (I think she went there once or twice) and thinks everything is a hoot. She's currently writing an African love story of sorts. I'll let you know when it's published - it should be a bloody hoot.

Saying "Keeenya" is no longer an accepted pronounciation for Kenya; hasn't been in years. That was so "White Mischief - the booze and afternoon delight - so British in the days of colonialism!

That outdated pronunciation makes the safari clad author all the more a caricature. That's unbelievable. I was just being outrageous but it appears the client is for real.
