traveling to Petra from Israel with children

My family will be visiting Israel, and we are considering a possible side trip to Petra from Eilat. Our children are ages 10 to 3. Does anyone have experience making this trip with children? Are there any special safety considerations? Any special tips? Any recommended guides/agencies that work with families? Thank you!

You can make advance reservations or your hotel in Eilat can do it for you. The only issue I see is that there is a great deal of long walking in Petra which in my opinion will be to hard for the 3 year old. You can make arrangements for a carriage which will take you from the main gate down to the Treasury and back which will work better. It is at least a 45 minute walk down and the 45 back which really is to much for little ones especially if it is hot.

As far as safety is concerned there is no concern for that. It is a very long day however. We just returned and we were picked up at our hotel in Eilat at 7:30 am and dropped back off at 7:30 at night.
