Travel to Egypt from Europe

So glad I found this - hope someone can help with my question.

My husband and I will be in Dublin, Ireland for St. Patrick's Day and are planning to go over to Egypt on March 18. We are having difficulty finding an airline from ANYWHERE in Europe to get to Cairo without spending our life savings.

Any suggestions???

One way tickets are very expensive, so I would advise purchasing a round trip with a dummy, distant return date, say leaving from Dublin to Cairo on March 18 and returning two months later. Don't tell the airline that you don't intend to use the return ticket and just throw it out when you get to Cairo. I just priced routes on Travelocity and round trip on Alitalia is around US$500 while one ways are at least US$700.

That's my suggestion.

Thanks Michael.

There are some "cheap" airlines in Europe (easyjet, ryanair) that we can utilize if we need to fly elsewhere to get a flight over. We looked at Air Berlin out of Frankfurt, but the flights were booked by the time we went back the next day. We are planning on flying from Denver, CO to London, then onto Dublin and then somehow get to Cairo. Everything seems to henge on something else.

I appreciate your suggestion and will certainly look into it. Thanks so much for replying and taking the extra step to research!

Anyone else???
