Travel Agency- African Safari Home

Has anyone ever booked with African Safari Home ( My husband and I have been working with them, and they are really helpful and knowledgeable, but we want to make sure they are legit before completing our reservation. They claim to operate under the parent company Personal Africa and belong to the ATTA. Any information you have would be much appreciated!

Thanks, Vanessa

Have they provided references?
If so, have you contacted them.
If not, do ask for some in your town/state, even country that you can email... better even to phone.

Never heard of them. Personal Africa is listed on the ATTA website. They are based in Johannesburg, South Africa. For companies based in South Africa, you get the best protection by working through SATSA members, because they are fully bonded. Bonding insurance means you cannot lose any money paid upfront, even if the company should go bust.
Nothing wrong with ATTA but they are more a networking and marketing body than a regulatory body like SATSA. ATTA does not have very strict membership requirements, they do not verify the company's financial position, or that they have adequate insurance in place, all required permits and licenses, etc. All these things are checked on an annual basis by SATSA, which is why they are able to cover their members with bonding insurance.
That said, if their references check out and you are happy with the service and quotes provided so far, they may be a reliable company. In particular, if they have already done all the work for you and put together a suitable itinerary for you, perhaps sent you a couple of proposals and answered all your questions, it would be a bit sour to now take your business somewhere else at the last minute, unless of course their references don't check out or you have reason to be suspicious.

I have checked them out and apparently they are SATSA members as well as ATTA members. They also offer financial protection, which is not offered by many. So they are legit and you should be in good hands.
