Transfer time at JNB Intl. airport
 

We arrive JNB on a Qatar airlines flight at 10 a.m. Need to catch a SAA flight to Lusaka, Zambia same day. There are several afternoon flights starting around noon. We might have to collect our bags as Qatar is unlikely to transfer them for us.
Would appreciate advice as to how many hours we should leave ourselves to make this transfer.

Although we had a full flight, we cleared customs within an hour, but if you need to transfer to another flight, I would give myself at least three hours to be on the safe side.

We’ve been through JNB numerous times and have never taken more than 40 minutes to clear Immigration and Customs (average elapsed time is closer to 30 minutes and quickest was about 15 minutes). Check-in for on going flights has been equally quick.
