Tours From Australia
Advise please on tours to South Africa from Australia. What tour company to use or should we book tours when we get there and if so who with ?

You can certainly check A&K OZ, but their prices are notoriously expensive. It will give you an idea of the itineraries they offer, lodging they use and costs. But, I'm sure a reputable Travel Agent in OZ can assist; there must be African specialist companies in Sydney or Melbourne.
However, with email and so many using the net for contact with operators out of their own countries, that's also an option. If you do a search on this board "South African Tour Operators" (without the quotes) in the box on top of page, then click search on the right, threads will appear in the left column. |
There are 2 companies I know of. Swagman Tours offer group and individual excursions and have a very good reputation. The Africa Safari Company is also worth a look, they have plenty of itineries but I dont know much about them.

Hi Joybell
Originally I used A&K in Melbourne plus another african specialist in Melbourne - was not happy with either of them! Then I just used my travel agent, and now I just do the booking myself and have an agent do the flights. Kind regards Kaye |
Joybell,
I live in Australia and used Adventure World for the first safari we did to Botswana in '06. Our trip went without a hitch and we were more than happy with all the arrangements -not to mention the camps they recommended. Our experiences were life changing. We are going again - this time to Zambia and Namibia in October and have had excellent service and feedback from Classic Safari Company - they came to us highly recommended and have spent much time and effort in formulating exactly what we want. I am very impressed so far. We will be spending a week in South Africa this time driving the Garden Route and the advice has been very helpful. Good Luck! |
