Tour company recommendations

Has anyone used a tour company called Beauty of Egypt www.beautyofegypt.com ?

We are planning 2 weeks family tour with them and the price looks great but looking for more info or reviews.

Thank you

Can't comment on this company, but what they show is a standard tour with the usual stops.

Sad, to see an incorrect spelling fo Abu Simbel, as "simple"

Are you looking for a "group" tour at their 3* budget hotel, or going for the 5* or 5*/delux hotels? Or does this company provide independent tours... just your family? So you can design what fits your wishes, when to travel, where you want to visit, for how long? With a Nile cruise? And, side-trip to Abu Simbel.

A "search" on this board will show that a company that gets very good reviews, that many use... is Lady Egypt. And, for a tour operator for Cairo and other useful information, a regular poster here, Debbie Senters of Casual Cairo Detours who can be reached at [email protected].

Hi. I have just looked at this company's website. I don't see their address or phone number? Is it just not there or am I missing it. Call me a "doubter" but if I cannot see personal company details like this I would begin to question. I would rather pay more for security and peace of mind.

This is just my 2 cents worth - after reading their FAQ, it is clear they are among the many Egyptian companies that begin a business with the motto - We will do what everyone else is doing, only do it for 10% less and we will get all the business.
I worry about businesses like this as most people with any business sense at all know you can't do the same and charge less and make money. It just does not take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Personally, I dropped out of Economics class after we passed Supply and Demand - I didn't understand the rest of it.
I say, do something unusual or unique and charge a fair price for it. Forget those that want to compete only on the theory that price is the only thing people care about.
That's my 2 cents, but that is why I never pretended to be the cheapest company out here. As Fodors says in their book - "These tours are not cheap" on page 118. :D

Sorry if I over stepped the rules of posting here (above), but the info was something I felt was needed to be said.

Debbie - you're spot on!

OP - As they say "if the price is too good to be true....." it probably is, so watch out.

You don't have to go with the most expensive as there are many appropriately priced tour operators, out there. Do some more research.

Hi Debbie:

Nice of you to reply to this posting.

You gave me a terrific tour when I was in Cairo and you taking me to Alexandra was an added bonus.

That is why I highly recommend you always :)

( When are you and Grcxx3, and Scot Girl having those drinks again on me... let me know so I can save up :) )

Casual_Cairo May 21st, 2010 12:33 PM

Percy - I was hoping you would say "so I can show up" not "save up". :)

Percy May 21st, 2010 06:50 PM

Typing error !!..yes of course ,so I can show up ! :)

Percy, I hope you are saving well :-) there is a clue in the word scots girl :-)

Debbie, you are spot on. My gran used to say - buy cheap buy twice. So if we work on the premise that price gets priority we often end up paying more to compensate for the lack of standards we got with the cheap price.

I found that on my first Nile Cruise, it was cheap, it was cheerful, but I spent a hell of a lot of money adding tours to get me off the damn thing :-)

And Debbie, I am 100% with you on the economics course, when I did mine I liked drawing the little curves but had no clue what they actually meant lol.

So,Discover-world, definately shop around. Dont listen to those who say they are all much of a muchness. They are not. Some companies are so big that they forget about the little people who are booking with them and because they have such bulk buying power with hotels etc they get away with ignoring complaints etc. because people know their name and keep booking with them.

Debbie comes highly recommended and I can also recommend Egypt Quality Tours (as we have used them many times). Shop around and make sure you get something that fits in with your idea of what you want to see and how much you can afford to pay for it.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but I highly (HIGHLY) recommend Lady Egypt, which operates out of Cairo. The service was VERY personal (and they didn't ignore complaints, they fixed whatever the problem was). A lot of Fodors posters have used them. (We didn't use Debbie's services in Cairo because our whole trip was planned by LadyEgypt, including our guides, but she does come highly recommended here!)

I'm not convinced we are the right choice for these posters either. I suspect there is something in between that would suit them best.... and maybe beauty of egypt is right for them....but we have weighed in with our opinions of their advertising/marketing methods.
