We have done several trips with GCT, but over the last 5 years, the Trips have gotten Cheaper and Cheaper...not first class hotels ....and everything is Extra...want to go on this tour, extra, extra, extra. That's why they price their tours so low because the nickel and dime you once they have you in their clutches. In fact the last tour with GCT was the Egypt tour with the Jordan extension in November 2008. After that trip we said "NEVER AGAIN". If you want to pay only a couple of hundred extra for a far better experience, go with Vantage Travel. We done the Grand European Waterways twice from the Black Sea to the North Sea and loved it.

So GCT's cheapness has now caused them to put their travelers at risk. I would never recommend GCT to anyone.

How many times has this bus made this trip? And how many such accidents have there been?

I just got back from Egypt yesterday. We went to Abu Simbel two days after the bus crash - saw the bush "remains." Truly horrifying. That being said, I agree with sf7307 - how many times do you hear of this happening? Truly tragic, yes, but tour buses have tragic accidents all over the world, including the US (I can recall a recent one near Vegas - like Hoover Dam I want to say?). We traveled with Lady Egypt and were in a convoy of MANY large buses and smaller mini-vans (like ours) that left at 4AM. All buses had to be stopped and inspected by police at the convoy point, and we all had to go through road stop points manned by police along the way. Our guide said this was to ensure that on buses got into trouble out in the desert and nobody was "stranded." It was a long ride, but the convoy experience was actually very interesting to me, and a part of the trip I will remember. My condolensces go out to the family of those involved in the accident.
