Top 10 things to do around Capetown?

It sounds like an interesting place to visit. What do you think are the top attractions in the Capetown area?

Hello Janine,

Most visitors who come to Cape Town visit Table Mountain, Cape Point, Robben Island, The penguin colony at Boulders Beach and Kirstenbosch Gardens. Thereafter it becomes a case of personal choices that have to be made by the individual.

As far as touring the city is concerned the majority of visitors would go on what is called a Cape Peninsula tour, a Cape Winelands tour, a city tour and a tour through a township.

Hope this helps and if you ever come to our wonderful city have great fun and enjoy yourself to the full.

Selwyn Davidowitz.

To add to the excellent list; the beaches. Even if one goes in winter, the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay have to be seen for their breathtaking scenery. Another favorite sight/drive/view is the drive up Signal Hill both at night and during the day. A stop at Hout Bay or Kalk Bay ( both of which would be on the aforementioned peninsula tour) are interesting to see the fishing boats coming in and watching the fishermen unloading and hawking their catch. We also enjoy taking one of the sightseeing boats from Hout Bay out to the island with its population of seals. And we never miss shopping, sightseeing and hanging out at the Waterfront.

Janine

Watching the sun set from Melkbosstrand or Bloubergstrand. From here you get the view of Table mountain that is on many postcard and photos.

Travel by metro train from Cape Town station to Simon's Town - many a mile right next to the sea.

Going up Table Mountain, or, driving past the entrance to the cable car and enjoying the view a little further down the road from the Mountain.

Driving along Chapman's Peak but I do not know whether it is open to the public yet - Selwyn?

At http://travel.iafrica.com/getaways/ are some nice Top Ten lists.

Chapmans Peak is still closed and heaven alone knows when it will re-open. There have been so many confusing reports and promises that my opinion now is that one simply has to wait until the official opening day truly arrives before one makes predictions about the date. All in all it is a great pity that I have to report the above because the drive has to be amongst some of the most spectacular drives in the world.

Selwyn Davidowitz
