Today AP article about medical travel insurance
This an AP Apr 9 article about medical travel insurance with emphasis on emergency evacuation costs.
My own opinion on insurance (expressed often here) is that I don't bother insuring my $100 worth of possible lost luggage, but do want coverage in case of a $50,000 flight evacuation back home. Article- http://tinyurl.com/2dc5gjd Note that many insurance plans that cover you at home do not cover you out of country. regards - tom |
I've said it over and over again <i><b>"don't leave home without it."</i></b> Whether young or old, with a pre-existing condition or not. Anyone can have an accident or take ill unexpectedly. At minimum, travelers must have medical/dental and evacuation coverage.

Agree. One mishap and you lose everything.

Thanks Tom. Great info!!

Totally agree. I don't bother with cancellation insurance, but my medical insurance covers me for emergency treatment, and I always have evacuation insurance. Even used it once.

Tom - good article. Totally agree especially for international travel. I was on a group trip in Costa Rica and a woman's brother died back home. Her travel insurance paid for her emergency flight home, plus the cost to get back to the airport in San Jose (we were up in the mountains).
