Tipping...Per Client or Group?

In know this is a worn out question; however, I need some clarification on whether our 4 person group should tip our guides, drivers, and porters as a group or by client. In other words, If we tip our driver/spotter on our safari $10 to $15 dollars a day, should that be $40-60 dollars total from the group as a whole?

I hope this is as clear as mud!

Thanks for the help,

SH

Yep....agree. Always do it at the end of the trip or stay.

Correct, in an envelope is nice.

In an envolope and tell him "zawadi ya watoto"(gift for your kids)-African polite phrase.

I always tip as an individual (at the end of my time with a particular guide), even when with a group. People tip differently, and I have no wish to know what my companions are tipping or for them to know what I am tipping. We may put all the tips in a single envelope, but as a group leader, I would not look at the individual contributions or even check the total. But I prefer to keep the tips separate and make the procedure quite personal between client and guide.

John, so separate but cumulative.

Coordinator,
I said "zawadi kwa watoto yako" but had no idea if that was correct usage. In any case, I think I was understood ;)
