Is this for Africa? Generally, for guides on safari, they recommend $10 per person per night. However, i recommend a little more.......and do this at the end of your stay.

For the rest, chk with your camp for guidelines. Best yet, do a search on this forum and you find plenty of opinions on tipping guidelines.

Good Luck

I think it would have helped to put Egypt in your title!

As for your amounts - those amounts seem okay. That is about what we tipped for services when we lived there. Sandi may be able to offer more insight.

Be generous, and definitley tip for extra good service, but not overly so. The minute folks start seeing you handing out big tips.....you'll have people coming from nowhere to do things for you!

My apologies for not being specific on the subject line. I will go ahead and re-post this. Thanks for your help.

When we visited Egypt the exchange rate was 4LE/USD$1, though I believe curretly the exchange rate is 6LE/USD$1.

From your list, the amounts appear to be correct. Assuming two people in your party:

Restroom - ok
Baggage/Porters - $1 - $2/per bag
Tour Guide - $7-$10/day per person
Driver - $5/day per person
Drive/airport transfers - $5
Housekeeper/Main - $2-$3/day for the room
Airport Rep (if meaning the person who meets/greets you on arrival and for your return airport trip) $5 either direction.

However, if someone goes out of their way,i.e, a guide who assists in negotiating prices for purchases you wish to make you can add a few dollars for his service.

Always do the tipping discretely so others aren't around with their hands out for "something."

As mentioned, there are a number of threads on this board regarding tipping which you can find by doing a search in the box on top of this board - enter Tipping Egypt, click the Search button to the right - threads containing such information will appear in the left column for you to read.

Happy travel... you'll enjoy Egypt and the people.
