Tintswalo

Has anyone stayed at the Tintswalo Camp in the Manyeleti Game Reserve lately?

comments? Is it worth the money? How is the location in comparison to the Timbavati lodges?

We stayed at Tintswalo for 3 nights this past November and enjoyed it immensely. The rooms are incredibly luxurious, the food is delicious, and the staff goes over the top to ensure that you have a great experience. On our last night there, for example, we returned to the room after dinner to find candles lit all around the floor, a warm bubble bath drawn with two robes hanging nearby, a fire going in the fireplace and a decanter of good sherry set between the two easy chairs. Sound romantic? You bet! The game viewing was quite good, although not as plentiful and varied as we had experienced in Botswana. Saw lots of lion, buffalo, white rhino, elephant, various antelopes, and a wide variety of birds. There is a nice watering hole immediately behind the main lodge, and you can have some very interesting sightings without ever leaving the camp. Can't compare it to other South Africa lodges, since this was our first trip there. However, our travel agent just visited Tintswalo, and said it compares favorably to any of the other top lodges. Yes, it is expensive, but well worth it for a few days, we thought. If you go, try to get Andre, who seems to be the most experienced guide.

thank you very much for your reply. It seems very worth wile visiting. Tintswalo would be the last lodge on our programme (a bit of extra luxury after a Rhino walking safari)

this won't be our first trip to Africa, or South Africa, we have stayed at Nxabega and Sandibe in the Okavango in July 2000, and also in Kings Camp Timbavati, and Inyati in south Africa.
I received a brochure in witch Tintswalo is sold for "only" 317 euro pppn ( 415 US$).
If it can be booked at that price and after your great comments, we will definitely stay there for 2 nights.
thanks
