time in Tel Aviv

We are in Israel for 10 days. I want to spend 2 nights in Tel Aviv but friends say one is enough. What do you think?

Why not post your itinerary - city, number of days, means of transport from one place to another - than someone can advise whether 1 or 2/nts TLV.

thank you Sandi; here is trip overview
First 3 days in Jerusalem; then 2 nights up north in Haifa and traveling to different areas; next day traveling back south, etc. and stopping at several spots. Then overnight in Jerusalem 2 or 3 nights; the group is staying 3 nights; I would like to spend only 2 and 2 in Tel Aviv, otherwise would only have 1 night in Tel Aviv, but of course could be 2 days since plane doesn't leave until late at night.

To me, there would never be enough days in Jerusalem and surrounding areas. But as many who love JER, as many feel likewise about TLV.

So it's all very personal.

If you have a full 2nd day in TLV because of the late night flight, than 1/nt might be sufficient... I don't enjoy doing 1/nighters regardless where I'm traveling.

Review your checklist of what you wish to do/see in/around TLV along with additional transport costs between TLV/JER and then to the airport - decide.

Sorry, I can't offer any more.
I'm sure others may have their own input.

thank you Sandi
Your response was helpful. A day and a half of so may be enough in Tel Aviv, but I also don't like one nighters.

Depends what you are after. Tel Aviv has a few older interesting building in its southern areas and especially in Jaffa, but one day is certainly enough to see them.

The main attraction in Tel Aviv (except for the traffic and the lack of free parking...) is its night - life.

There are countless pubs, dance bars, dance clubs and many restaurants (including many classy, good ones).

Going out in Tel Aviv starts at around 10PM and ends at the morning.

It depends what day of the week you will be in T-A. Friday is a good day to visit the flea market in Jaffa or the handicraft fair at Nachlat Binyamin. As Eladn pointed out, Froday is the big night for restaurants, clubs, shows, etc. Remember that Jerusalem is totally shut down on Fri-Sat while Tel-Aviv is at its best. Everything is open. There are also some good museums and walking tours, etc. Haaretz (english, I-H-Trib) and the Jerusalem Post both publish Entertainment Guides every Friday

There is a new Tel Aviv city guide out that might help you to decide.

Might be available at Amazon, almost sure to be available at the Steimatsky book shop at the airport.

We liked Tel Aviv. I think that two nights would be better. We loved walking on the beach promenade at night, walking along Sheinken St. and Rothchild St., and walking to the Port at night. Jaffa is lovely to visit during the day. Tel Aviv reminded us of Miami Beach but more low key. Folks are very casual in Tel Aviv- dress is very casual even in the evening.

Does anyone know of any fun activities happening in Tel Aviv this New Year's Eve?

They call it the SILVESTER NIGHT.

And the Tel Avivians are very good in celebrating it. Many parties there. And many night clubs are having big parties. You just need to ask when there.
