Timbuktu? Wilderness Travel?

Has anyone been to Mali and Timbuktu? Does anyone know anything, good or bad, about Wilderness Travel? My husband and I would love to hear what travelers thought of their trips. Thanks.

Is there a web site for Wilderness Travel? I am interested in Timbuktu. I have seen several trips advertised in the past.

I took the plane from within Mali to reach Timbuktu. Really worth seeing and visiting. Was on an organized tour. Have not heard about Wilderness Travel.

Wilderness Travel has a very good reputation although I have not traveled with them. I just made a deposit with Eldertreks for a trip in Nov of 2003 to Mali and Burkina Faso. Includes Timbuctou, Djenne, Niger River, much cultural, and some camping. It is for very active folks over 50 and was in my price range and appears to be well-balanced trip. www.Eldertreks.com is website. They specialize in small groups. Best, Ellen
