Tiberias
Hi
Can you give me some information about accomodations in Tiberias ? I shall spend two nights there in the beginning of may. |
If you want something a little different from the chain hotels try the "Scots Hotel" very nice surroundings, clean and a completely different feel. The Breakfast Buffet is magnificent, the best I have ever seen (but not kosher).

That's the Scottish Church Hotel:
The Scots Hotel St. Andrew's Galilee P.O.Box 104, Tiberias 14100 Tel: +972-4-6710710 Fax: +972-4-6710711 <http://www.scotshotels.co.il/history.html> They used to also have a hostel, don't know if that still exists. The Scots is very nice, also rather expensive. It IS the best breakfast buffet I've seen in Israel, and that's saying something. But not a Kosher kitchen.
Most of the chain hotels on the waterfront are not especially attractive. I understand the Sheraton is being/has been renovated (which it badly needed) so that might be an alternative. Okay if you want a Kosher operation. |
The accomodations in Tiberias are really rather poor. However I can recommend 2 places: Hotel Rimonim Galei Kinneret. This hotel is located about 5 min drive south of the city center on the Tiberias sea. It used to be "the" place to be. I understand that it went extensive renovations. In general, the Rimonim chain of hotels are good hotels.

I don't "go" for expensive hotels. *smile* I have stayed several times at Nof Ginosar in the Galilee area and find it very nice......a short stroll down to the water's edge......rooms are adequate and the restaurant and food are nice.
