Three weeks in Cape Town
 

My husband and I are going to be in Cape Town for three weeks and plan to do the normal sightseeing; garden rout, winelands, Eastern Cape etc. We'd appreciate any tips on timing and places to stay on garden route? <BR> <BR>How much time would we need to drive the Garden route at a leisurely pace and are there any romantic hotels on route

You don't say when you'll be in Cape Town, because your activities can be affected by the weather. But don't worry it doesn't get that bad - it might just mean you can't go to the beach. The Garden Route starts about 400 km from Cape Town (about a 4 hr leisurely drive) and the Eastern Cape stretches a lot further, so make sure what you're letting yourselves in for. If you're into golf at all, try staying at Fancourt which is quite expensive but probably affordable if you earn pounds or dollars. You have the advantage of coming to a country whose currency has been taken to the cleaners! Alternatives are King George III hotel in George or you could try Knysna. I would pick one place and stay there for a few days and go on day trips to other places - once you've got there the distances aren't that far. There's plenty to do in Cape Town - it really depends on your personal preferences. But do go up Table Mountain- the views are wonderful.
