Clifton,
I think the OP knows that not everyone in Egypt shares in anti american sentiment just as not all Fodorites considered one posters insolence as repartee, but a few with poor taste did. The comment was removed for its childishness...the moderators sent a message to those posters

Likewise the OP wants to send a message & has made the respectable decision to not spend their tourism dollars there...nothing wrong with that.

I wouldnt visit S Africa during Apartheid. I knew not all S Africans agreed with that policy, but I didnt go

Also after my first bull fight, I was so filled with contempt for the cowards that cheered the killing of the bull I avoided Spain for years

I didnt hate S Africans or Spainards...just made a decision by certain values I felt were important and didnt visit countries that I wouldnt enjoy at the time

I met some Europeans who didn't want to visit the US because of our government's policies. I remember trying to explain that not all of us believed the same way as our President at the time did which seemed to be a surprise to them. They still insisted they wouldn't visit a country that practiced the death penalty.

I certainly hope nobody is buying anything made in Japan after that nasty "sneak attack" they rather brilliantly pulled off; and all those people rushing over to Italy, the country that performed all those atrocities in Ethiopia. I have an acquaintance who refuses to buy German-made cars.

And remember when we had the "discussion" here about whether or not people should not spend their dollars in North Carolina after that state voted overwhelmingly to deny same-sex marriage?

I agree with FrankS that there are actions one takes for a variety of what seems to them to be good reasons and that is their right.

The OP was obviously made due to a certain degree of anger and frustration and a lot of us have done that.

Oh but British Columbia is so beautiful.....

And the Canadian Rockies. And Quebec!

And the Maritimes.

Sigh. I love Canada.

Hi Frank -

As far as I'm aware, I was responding just to your "anti-American" post. I had not been aware it was posted in response to a post which was to be made later (?)
