The Holy Cities and a prayer in the desert

Hi,

We have this goal of going to both Rome & Jerusalem, while visiting the near region of each cities if time allows (3 weeks). I know only of Alitalia Airline that would let us link these two cities.

Any advice of other airlines that may combine these two destinations ?

Advice on the attractions around these two cities ? We are thinking of the Sinai and Ste Catherine Monastery in Israel for example.

Thank you

Suggest you get a map. These are in Egypt not Israel. Easiest to get to St. Catherine's from Sharm el Sheik at the tip of the Sinai (Egypt). There are 1 or 2/day tours that can be arranged.

Indeed. I was referring more as in Israel vicinity.

We were thinking of Petra as well in Jordania. So basically searching for suggestions to interesting side trips from Jerusalem.

Another question : is Bethlem worth seeing ?

Thank you

El Al also flies Rome to Israel. If you are doing also Jordan look into also Royal Jordanian Airlines. With a connecting flight I think you can also use Turkish Airlines between Rome and Israel without going too far out of your way. (And consider also Istanbul. If you have three weeks I think a week in each of Rome, Istanbul and Jerusalem make a fascinating combination. I have done all three but not in the same trip.)

In Israel, consider Nazareth and Galilee area. We did Bethlehem too from Jerusalem as a 1/2 day trip. Bethlehem is very interesting but there are many more things in Nazareth area that I think it is more worthwhile. We stayed at Fauzi Azar Inn right in the old town of Nazareth and with a car explored the area for two days.

Thank you Laurie.

We have been to Istanbul last year ! A fascinating city !

I thought of Alitalia as they let you stop in Rome in route from London to Tel Aviv.

What would you suggest in the Nazareth region ?

Txs again
