hills27, that's a really cool way of remembering it - in a writing class I learned a similar rule for I/me but can't remember it!
Something about if you can take out the other person & still make sense, then it's I. Now I'm really confused trying to think about it....
Sunshine, I was the worst one for the apostrophe before I took a writing class, it just POPS out at me in my older journals! That was one of the first things they taught us in the class.

Rocco had a camel toe?
..........Or should it be Roccos got a camel toe (meaning that it doesn't actually belong to him) - or Rocco's camel toe if he takes ownership of it.
Perhaps that where he is - he's off somewhere adding to his camel toe collection.

If I recall correctly, the possesive apostrophe is related to the apostrophe that indictaes missing letters. Originally the phrase would have been - "My uncle, his camel lives in Cairo". The apostrophe marks the missing letters in the contraction - "My uncle's camel lives in Cairo".

Sunshine,
Have you been to Japan? If a misuse of the apostrophe bothers you here, you would be in a frenzy over their English translations!
Hills,
I have never known when to use who and whom! I'm so glad you have cleared this up for me.

Not only have I learned some grammar I learned new vocabulary with camel toe. I googled it and discovered the meaning. I hope I have never been guilty of this atrocity along with the apostrophe thing.

"..........Or should it be Roccos got a camel toe (meaning that it doesn't actually belong to him)"
Actually, cybor, would Roccos still not contain the apostrophe in that case, indicating a contraction for Rocco has got a...? Roccos, as written, indicates multiple Roccos with a camel toe.
It's funny that this comes up. My mom and I were just discussing the apostrophe issue a couple nights ago.
LyndaS, I think the "rule" of making sense applies to either one of the I/me. Whichever you would use if you were only referring to yourself is what you would use along with another person's name or pronoun. It also has to do with how the first person pronoun is used. As part of the subject, it should be I, as in Tarzan and I swung from the vines. As an indirect object, it should be me, as in Jane gave a vine to Tarzan and me.
LMAO at Lynn's looking up the whole camel toe atrocity. Thank you, I needed that today.

I too had to google camel toe, too funny! But according to the Wikopedia definition, Rocco can't have one
going-2-africa, yes, thankyou - you made me remember the rule!! If you can take Tarzan out of the picture, and still make sense, then it's right - ie Tarzan and I swung from the vines.
Take out Tarzan and you are left with "I swung from the vines", which still makes sense. If 'me' would have been used it would be wrong as 'me swung from the vines'. Mind you that is how Tarzan talked isn't it?
Also don't take Tarzan out of the picture because if you do I would fall from the trees.....

I believe that Rocco's version of a cameltoe is called a moose knuckle.
I suspect no one would be surprised if Rocco sported one.
Always pleased to provide essential information to the Fodorite community.

Hi Lynda,
In this day and age anything is possible. If one wants to become something else they can. I know a few camels who've switched teams.
This could explain his reason for becoming incognito. He did, after all, change his name.
Also, if one has a few camel members in their prospective entourage they could be classified as his (Roccos's) camel toes.
I'll go now.

Oh, lordy! I just ran cameltoe and know that I will be inundated with cameltoespam.
My uncles do fight over who owns which camel (or to whom each camel belongs.) It can get vicious and the camels often are injured, so they are taken to the camel market outside of Cairo & treated by the camel vets there. The uncles are left to fend for themselves.
No Machiavellian plot behind the fact that I only posted this on this site -- it's the only one I reguarly read. It certainly was fun reading your responses.

Au contraire, Lynda. Men can have camel toe, as evidenced here:

And in case anybody needs a visual definiton of moose knuckles:
