Tell me more about the "black desert"

On one of the camel treks I am looking into she suggests going into the "black desert" for one night and staying in the tent of a special family there for the night.

She says it is very special but her english is not really clear ( she is from Brazil) and I would like to know more or what exactly is so special about this.

Does anyone know about this or these people?

Thank you!

The Black Desert is not sand dunes as one might think. It's more like scrub brush, but there are some great hills. The terrain is covered with black natural matter -- iron ore flakes, I think. Pretty majestic. As far as the special family, I haven't a clue.

In the immortal words of Emily Litela: "Never Mind." I gave you advice on Egypt's Black Desert.

I don't know why they are calling it the "Black Desert." The Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga are not black but look like the photos on the web site you listed.

There are a lot of trips and camel treks to the desert in Merzouga so if this doesn't work out you can find another.

I guess the "special" thing they are offering is that you would spend the night in a tent with a nomad family.
