Tanzanian Safari

Four of us are traveling to East Africa in December (2004) and January (2005). We are thinking about spending New Years and the week after in Zanzibar and then head off for a weeklong safari. We know that we want to see the Ngorongoro Crater and maybe the northern or western part of the Serengeti. Do you have any suggestions on places to stay and areas that should be visited? If possible, we also would love to see Cheetahs and babies of any sort. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do a search on this board for "safaris Tanzania" plenty of previous threads will appear in left column. You will find sample itineraries, locations and accommodations.

As to animals, there are never any guarantees what you will see or where; and sorry to say, but no one can just snap their fingers and up pop some cheetah cubs. But for babies, the wildebeest calving season in sometime between mid-Jan thru early Mar. so guess you'll miss that.

Remember this is your vacation, so you have to decide what you want to do, where, how long, and what budget you are working with.
