Accomodations in Hoedspruit, South Africa

We will arrive at the Hoedspruit airport the day before we start our safari at the Elephant Plains Lodge. Can anyone suggest an nice B & B or hotel/lodge etc. to stay for the one night we are in Hoedspruit. Because we will not be arrrivng until the afternoon and leaving very early the next morning for our safari we do not want to spend the money for an all inclusive lodge with game drives and meals etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have a look at the suggestions in the Greenwood Guide - I have not been to either, but we have found the Greenwood Guides to be very reliable on the occasions that we have used them (maybe a dozen times over they years). The tree house accommodation appeals to me, but it may be pricey and include game drives - I did not look that closely. CR

Blyde River Canyon Lodge, http://www.blyderivercanyonlodge.com/ or Zuleika Country House http://www.zuleika.co.za/ are both reasonably priced accommodations in/around Hoedspruit.

We stay in Graskop at the Graskop Hotel. It's an affordable, comfortable and artsy place, conveniently next door to Harrie's Pancakes. It's also very convenient to some of the Panoramic Route sights like God's Window and the Three Rondavels. It's around an hour from Acornhoek; Hoedspruit is around 45 min., so not a big difference.

About 4 yrs ago we stayed at the Zuleika Country house, nice B&B, good food and nice staff. We had a rental/hire car so drove ourselves there but I'm sure you could make arrangements with them or some one they recommend.

regards - tom

http://raptorslodge.co.za/ is in Hoedspruit; walk to the excellent Ollies in the secure estate for a great dinner or a drink at the Safari Club. Also a very good spa if you have had a long trip
