Tanzania Camping Safari November

We are planning a safari in November, and would like to do a mix of camping and lodge/tented camp. Our dates are early November (arriving in JRO Nov. 6). We know this is the short rain season, so is camping advisable?

I was camping in Tanzania last Oct when the rains came.
People on the low side of camp had flooded tents, equipment they had left on the floor in backpacks was ruined- iPads, phones etc.

Fortunately I was on the upside of the camp, had a good nights sleep and had no idea what was happening on the other end of camp.

Also, the next day, the rain stopped so we went on the search of rhinos. We got stuck in the mud and by the time the day was done, there were 4 other vehicles mired in the mud with us. Most of the morning was spent trying to get us all out and we never saw a rhino.

So if you go, stay on the upside of the camp and don't leave electronics or anything that can't get wet on the floor.
