Yes bat I agree with the way you would suggest a split I guess I was waiting to see how things open up.
Eben I am confused a little if 270pppn is the rack rate we are being asked for an extra 150pppn over the Ndutu cost?? Thanks so much for your time to help me get my head around this. J |
bat,
Park fees for the Serengeti are $50pp and camping fees are $40/$50pp (going up Jul 1) at special campsites according to http://www.tanzaniaparks.com/ I don't know where to find the fee listing for NCA. |
Ndutu is less than half that--or was last April. Plus I wonder if eben's figure includes guide accommodations?
|
jules,
Ndutu's rack rate for Feb is $150pppn so a difference of $120pppn, but perhaps Roy's gets a better net rate from Ndutu? Just a guess. |
Thanks Patty that makes sense.

Jules, I am 99.9% confident that my rack rate is correct so I don't understand the jump in costs either! Kirurumu is a very guide-friendly company so I am sure my Full-Board rate includes driver/guide costs.
NCA rates are currently $30 park fees and $40 special camp fees for 24h. |
Thanks Patty and Eben:
Eben, one more question--any chance that you can give me an "official" source on-line for those NCA fees? |
I asked the same question to my tour operator and they told me prices for parc entrance ngorongoro are 50 USD and crater fee to descend with car are 100 USD.. so unless exclusive the car fee, there is also an extra fee per person for the crater, the fees for 2006 for the NCA should be 50 USD.. atleast I think so :-) I've also tried to find official fees for NCA and could also only find the ones for serengeti (see patty's answer)
|
I have my Ngorongoro receipt from January 3 2006 in front of me! Current rates are:
$30 entrance, $40 private camping, $20 public camping, $100 Crater Service Fees (per vehicle) - these are all Non-Tanzanian rates. In addition there are minor entry fees for Tanzanians (your guide) and vehicle permits by weight. On April 1, the 6-hour permit to the Crater Floor will come into effect. On July 1, TANAPA entrance fees, vehicle permit fees and camping fees will increase for all parks except Serengeti and Kilimanjaro which increased on Jan 1, 2006. NCA wanted to increase their entry fees to $50 on Jan 1, 2006 but was advised to hold off. It is currently at $30 under further notice. By 2007, there is a chance that NCA and Serengeti fees will be the same to simplify things. There is no website with NCA fees (as far as I know). |
Eben so do you think what Patty said about the price difference is not quite right??
Thanks again J |
Hi Jules
The Serengeti Camp will be in Serengeti so the Serengeti fees apply. $50 Entry fee and after July 1 the special camp fees are $50. I agree with Patty. I think you are paying +/- $120 pp + extra special camp and entry fees = +/- $150 pp = $300 for the two of you? Looks about right. |
Thanks Eben that is what I had calculated too so that is reassuring.
We are definately concidering a combination of Ndutu & camp. Thanks again everyone J |
