Table Mt

Has anyone ridden the cable up to Table Mountain? I was looking at some photos on the awesome www.wunderground.com sight, and I was amazed at how high the mountain is. I'll check back here around 12:15 p.m. Those of you thinking of a trip to Cape Town, et. al., I think you will find the wunderground site beyond belief. Best to all of you.

I have no statistics to back me up but I'm sure a high proportion of tourist visitors to Cape Town take the trip to the top, either via the cable car or by walking.

It's one of the top attractions.

Table Mountain is the number one attraction, not only in Cape Town, but also in South Africa. It has the highest tourist turnover in the country.

Btw the mountain 1067 metres high

Also be aware that the cableway will be going through maitainance from 25th July 2005 until 7th August 2005 meaning that one cannot ascend or descend the mountain using this facility.

Hope this helps.

We've taken the cable car (with rotating floor) up and down. Although the mountain is high, the ride up takes only 2 mins. but the views are indeed breathtaking.

It's a very fun ride and it's beautiful once you reach the top. At least it was when we were there. I understand the weather (fog wise) can be quite changable. Selwyn can probably give an accurate answer to what your odds are of having good visibility.

We took the cable car to the top of the mountain last Sunday. The sky was cloudless - and that is important as clouds settle on the mountain if there are any in the area. The cost is 110R per person round trip, the car has a capacity of 65 people, so there was no line despite many folks around.
If you want photographs of Cape Town, go in the afternoon, as in the morning the sun is reflecting on the water.
Friendly dassies are waiting for photos to be taken.
Then we took a rikki (communal taxi) to the waterfront - saw lots of Cape Town on the trip. 20R per person.
