Hi Yazanya. Can you recommend some good resturants in Damascus? I'll be going there soon. Thanks!

There are plenty of good places, but not a lot of varieties. My favorites are La Casa, old city (Italian), Gemini (steaks), Qasr oumaween (local in old city, nice setting mediocre food). I don't know what type of food you're looking for, so if you?re looking for something specific let me know.

I hope my reply isn?t too late. If you wish we can meet up for a dinner in one of these places. I?ll be in Syria till end of March.

Hi Elzeth

Antioch
if you mean ancient Antioch ad Orontes
it is called today
Antakya (Hatay) & since 1939 it is a part of Turkey ...

Antioch ad Orontes, founded by Seleucus I Nicator ~300 BC,its population soon reached half a million people.. St. Paul was there

Today there's a small museum with a fantastic collection of MOSAICS, i was lucky enough to visit a few times

yes!!!! :)
in fact, when people hear you are an American you'll get an even warmer reception because so few Americans visit...

Thank you for the reply maxwell. I have recently returned from Jordan and everywhere I went people would thank me for coming. That was the greatest feeling, and it sound like the Syrians are just as nice. :-)
