sussi lodge or songwe in zambia?

I am debating between both lodges. Has the Sussi Lodge been renovated recently? I will be going this March for 2 nights. Has anyone stayed at any of these lodges recently? I can get slightly cheaper rates for the Sussi lodge. Thanks.

I cannot speak for Sussi, however I stayed for a few nights at Songwe last year. It is in a unique position with spectacular views down into the Zambezi river gorge.

The lodge is small and run as an insight into modern day tribal life. I thoroughly enjoyed the staff and my stay.

I stayed at Sussi and Chuma and loved it, but that was several years ago. Great location on the Zambezi, with huts over the water and hippos right outside. However, it has changed ownership/management since that time. I recall some recent reviews that said it needed some serious renovation, but also recall reading it was renovated last fall. Sorry I don't have any current first hand knowledge to offer.

My Songwe experience is not current by any means - but, when we visited it was right before the first major rains and the Zambezi was perfect then for whitewater rafting and was the highlight of our stay there - i think the folks at Kwando work with Bundu adventures to organize this trip. I haven't been back there simply because it isn't a gameviewing destination!
