Suggestions for 18 days

We have 18 days from the time we land in Capetown until we join a private air safari through Botswana and Namibia. Thinking of 4 nights is CPT and 4 in Franschhoek. Probably 2 nights in Knysna. Any suggestions for the rest of the trip? My husband would enjoy fishing somewhere. We arrive mid-August.

How would he feel about tigerfish on the Zambezi?

mamatross May 4th, 2008 05:36 PM

He'd love it. Can you give me some info?

I'm not a fisheman, but have been with people fishing for them who have really enjoyed the experience. Rather than giving you my limited information, I would suggest you post a new thread that mentions tigerfish and Zambezi in the title. Include details on where you will be on your tour (starting and end points) so you get some advice that matches your trip. That way you will get a specific responses from people who have first hand knowledge.

If you google, tigerfish and "upper zambezi" you will find some links to get you started.

Impalila Island camp (in Namibia) specialises in fishing, and will also take you on Game Cruises down the Chobe and amazing bird watching.

You can get there easily from Botswana.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions. I will get on this and see if I can get him fishing!

Hi mama,

you've listed 10 days - any ideas what to do with the rest?

as for the 10 days you've mentioned, I'd do 4 in CPT, 2 in franschoek, and 4 in knysna or plett. if possible, add at least 2 days to CPT, and/or spend at least one night in namaqualand north of cPT - in mid-august the flowers should just be coming into bloom.

sorry I can't help with the fishing.

regards, ann
