State Dept. Travel Announcements

We're planning to leave on a cruise from Alexandria to Bombay next week. I recently read a U.S. Department of State Public Announcement which mentions the "continuing threat of anti-American violence.....specifically to the Middle East, including the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, the Arabian Pininsula and North Africa". It goes on to mention that attacks may involve commercial aircraft and maritime interest. We checked with the cruise line (Seabourn) who say they have no specific information and have no plans to change the itinieray at this time. We're undecided whether to canccel or go on as planned. Any comments?

I would go, if it were me. Where, exactly are your cruise stops?

Only you can make that decision. State Department warnings shouldn't be ignored, but be put in the context of all the other dangers in your life. You are probably more likely to be killed in a traffic accident on the way to work than in a terrorist incident while traveling. Many people are victims of accidents in their homes, so even there you aren't completely safe.

If it were me, I would go.
