Spillway canoeing

Wonderful account here http://www.linyanti.com/campnews.htm
of an exploration of the western Selinda spillway by canoe. The trip was based on Motswiri, which was a hunting camp until a couple of years ago but which is coming into its own as a photographic safari destination.

Thanks, John. Also, a brief mention of the dogs being active around Selinda, however, no mention about the den or the pups.

Hari,

If they'd found the den, it would have been mentioned. It was about this time last year that we were watching the pups playing outside the den, which was very close to Zib camp. Looks like the pack certainly has denned this year deep into the mopane to escape the attention of lions.

John,

Yes, i agree. Sometimes, very deep in the mopane isnt even accessible because of all the thick foliage. As long as the dogs are well, i guess that's all that matters!!!

Yep, Hari, it's sweet with me that the den has remained hidden, and it would be so even if I was there this year. I've had a 50% strike rate with the Selinda pack over the years, and I'm happy with that record...and the years that we've scored, we've been able to see them every day. To be able to see 20-plus dogs including pups on a regular basis has been just wonderful.
