Southern and East Africa: Long-stay discounts

Hello,

Those who are trying to shave a few dollars, pounds, or euros off their itineraries but want to stay in top-drawer camps might find this interesting.

If you stay for 4-5 nights in any combination of two or more Conservation Corporation Africa (CCA) camps, there is a 5% discount.

If you stay 6+ nights, there is a 10% discount.

If you stay 7+ nights in Wilderness camps, there is an undefined long-stay discount -- approximately 10% based on the costs of my trips with them.

Note that Wilderness divides camps by country, whereas CCA does not -- for the Wilderness long-stay discount, you need to stay 7+ nights in one country. The countries are Namibia, South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe; River Club (Zambia) is counted with the ZImbabwe camps, much to the chagrin of people who want to end their Botswana trips in Vic Falls.

Other groups, like Serena and Sopa, probably have something similar, which is why a trip using all of one group's camps is less expensive than a mixed-company trip (though the latter is often a better trip from a game-viewing and experience point of view).

Cheers,
Julian
