Thanks shouldbewriting, I always stress over the clothing and then once there promptly forget about it!

Got the longjohns, the silk variety and hope am not one of those who gets colder rather than warmer in them.

Where exactly were you? I'll be in Mashatu & Malamala.

Hi KathBC

Have been to MM many times and Mash a couple of times, throughout the year. Keep in mind Sept is the start of their summer season and June is in winter and I know how freezing game drives can be as you go early morning and late afternoon/evening, you are not really out in the middle of the day. I am not usually a person to feel the cold, but sitting still in an open gamevehicle, I certainly do and nothing is worse than being cold. The days around camp can be warm that is for sure, so the real issue is to be warm on the drive.
They have a heating room or something along those lines, as I never got anything back a day late or damp, so don't worry about it!

Kind regards

Kaye

I'll look into long johns or something for the morning drives. I know I have some, I'm from Minnesota after all... I'm going on a Nomad Adventure tour, so I'm not sure how this works, day to day. Do most tours go out for a morning drive, come back to the camp and then go for another drive? I'm having a hard time figuring out if that is how this specific safari will work. This is my first time to Africa and on any kind of trip like this, so it's all new to me! For reference, this is the website of the tour: http://www.nomadtours.co.za/campingt...nd-south-2013/

Elizabeth, The <u>Itinerary</u> section of your trip states each day's activities step-by-step. With the exception of Day 4 & 5 when you will "explore on foot" and a Day 7 game drive in a 4x4, you will be in the Nomad truck. There is a photo of the vehicle on the first page of the <u>About Us</u> section of their web site. Any other game drives are <u>"optional"</u> and require an added cost. If you are not sure of what your tour is offering, I strongly suggest that you contact the tour operator for details so that you know exactly what to expect.

BTW: It appears to me from looking at the photos, that the concern about long johns is unnecessary. The truck is fully enclosed. It is a giant camper bus with 22/24 people inside. I think you will be quite warm.

Good luck. Have fun.
