South African Airlines food?

Hi,
I'm flying economy class on South African Airlines from Dulles (Washington, D.C.) to Johannesburg later this month. On my e-ticket it says "No Meal Service."

Is that true? Do you fly 17 hours without food? I know I can bring some but this seems odd?

Any information? Can't find any on their website.

I've made that flight a few times and always been fed. I can't imagine you won't be served. I'd just call SAA here in the US and double-check.

I'd bring a sandwich just in case!

I am booked on the same flight (Dulles to Johannesburg) on 8/15 and just got my e-ticket this week. My e-ticket says we are getting food. Good luck. Never been on this specific flight, but all of my other international flights have had at least 2 meals, even the 6-7 hour ones.

On SAA - the main thing that interested me was the wine!!!

Can't imagine no meal on that long a flight. We did to/from Frankfurt-Cape Town a couple of years ago.....about 11 hours each way and I seem to remember 2 meals.

But I would certainly call them to put your mind at ease!

I would think they would at least serve dinner and breakfast and probably a few snacks...and needless to say the wine! I've never been on an international flight where they didn't serve at least two meals..

The food on SAA wasn't particularly appealing but sufficient from FRA to JNB.
I can't imagine they don't serve meals on long-haul. They even serve a meal on domestic flights.
As vegetarian I use to have a bit of cheese with me as these airlines mostly don't have clue how to put together a lacto-ovo-veg meal ;-)

I've received confirmations for some international flights that indicated "no meal." I didn't even bother to call, as on these long-hauls, they feed you, at least dinner and breakfast and we've had snacks also. Especially so on those SAA IAD/JNB/IAD flights.
