South Africa Interview
With the world cup in SA this year, I interviewed a native of Cape Town, SA on my weekly travel show to talk about the ways of the land over in South Africa.

Cape Town is very different form the rest of South Africa.

Nothing like lots of mis-information, interspersed with some occasional gems. Factually a little lean!
I wouldn't even want to start correcting some of the statements (but the "fact" that Nelson Mandela was incarcerated in solitary confinement on Robben Island for 27 years is the biggest load of hogwash I've ever heard). Wherever does this info come from? As a guy who's travelled South Africa for more than 4 decades, I would love to know where this "native" (btw - an offensive term in South Africa) came from. I've never heard such an accent ... And I'd agree with shj. Cape Town is very different to the rest of SA. In fact, listening to this clip, I'd say it must be on another planet - LOL! |
This is being misconstued- "Mandela served 27 years in prison, spending many of these years on Robben Island,"(quote from Wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nelson_Mandela and probably correct) and is now believed as this- " Here Mandela spent 27 years of his life in a tiny cell of 5 square metres".http://www.southafrica-travel.net/westcape/cato_11.htm Quite different. |
