South Africa in October
Hi All,
I am currently in the process of trying to plan a trip to South Africa for Oct. I am getting conflicting comments in my searches regarding game viewing in Kruger during this time of year. Does anyone have any experience with South Africa Game Viewing in Oct. Any help would be great. In addition, we'd like to do a Great White dive off of Cape Town. Has anyone tried it and what did you think. Once again thanks in advance for any help you can provide. |
I went cage diving with white sharks on two separate occasions, each time from Gaansbai, which is 1-1/2 hours from Cape Town, but the operator I went with, White Shark Ecoventures, provided round trip transport to and from CT in their quote. Its excellent!!

thanks for that, i'll look into White Shark Ecoventures!

I had two days at Mala Mala in October 2003 and had spectacular game viewing. It was a bit chilly early and late, but a fleece was sufficient.

The weather in October is warm to hot throughout the country.Even in Cape Town (which is 2000 km from Kruger) the rainy season is finished.

for shark diving and an eco experience of note, try Grootbos, located ten minutes from the dive sight in Gansbaai.
Kruger game viewing is great in October. If you are thinking of the Sabi Sands, rangers and trackers get you close for some thrilling experiences. Recommend you stay three nights for the full spectrum of activities. If you arrive early October, you could get up the west coast of the Cape for the remnants of the flowers, great fynbos display, but you have to time it right a day or three can make all the difference. Hike table mountain rather than cable car--full day go up from the botanical gardens, come down kasteelporrt on the Town side. Another don't miss: trip to the winelands. Drive up the garden route, particularly between Mossell Bay & Natures Valley. |
