Soputh Africa---capetown

Am planning to be in Capetown in January. Would appreciate any information you may be able to give me---we are especially interested in the Garden Route. Thank you

I assume that you have already looked at the Garden Route website at www.gardenroute.org.za for some information.

The Garden Route is a very beautiful part of the country with lots of things to see and do. The run of the mill things to do there are:

- visit the Cango Caves near Oudtshoorn
- visit an ostrich farm near Oudtshoorn
- visit The Heads near Knysna
- visit Noetzie with its castles near Knysna
- go swim at any beach (Plettenberg Bay is very popular)
- go on the Outeniqua Choo-choo steam train from Knysna to George
- visit Hermanus on the way to the Garden Route and try and see some whales (may be good to confirm beforehand that they would be there during January). Buy shark "biltong" (dried shark meat at the fishery.)
- walk in Knysna's main street and be relaxed. However, it is still school holidays and everything is busy with many people.

Enjoy your trip!!
