"Sometimes in April" - made for HBO (TV) - Rwanda Genocide

Just now showing on HBO - "Sometimes in April" about the Rwanda Genocide and the Reconciliation Tribunals being conducted (still) in Arusha, Tanzania. Outstanding. About one extended families experiences during that horrible time.

No Don Cheadle, but Des Milles Collines (Hotel Rwanda) does play a role here.

With the exception of Prudence Bushnell (played by Debra Winger), of the US, nobody in the West comes out smelling very good - not Europe, not the US. For those who may not remember, Prudence Bushnell was the US Ambassador to Kenya at the time of the '98 Embassy bombings in NBO and DAR; believe she is today the Ambassador to Morocco (have to check this).

Interesting that the final words after the credits roll are "never again" (sound familiar) - and yet the world continues to forget!

How many years after the genocide in Darfur (and so many other places around the world) will someone make these movies, and then another, and another. The message doesn't seem to get through. A shame!
