I don't even know why I look at Africa pictures. I was just there in October for 17 days and you think that would hold me over for at least several months. Looking at your photos makes me want to go back NOW. You guys saw so much great stuff and captured it well. Thanks for sharing them! I love the sleeping lion that looks like he has a "comb over"!

I was there for 30 days and I could get back on a plane this second. I just rewatched Gorillas in the Mist this week.

Quite different to see it all after actually seeing the gorillas.

I hope we ALL get back to Africa, country of your choice, of course, as soon as we can.

Lisa, Mark's pictures are fab, too. Were you both expert photographers before leaving? These are all really impressive.

And special thanks for the Arusha street scenes. What a crazy little town; I'm looking forward to spending a bit more time there on our next trip.

Didn't think about the lion as having a comb-over, but you're right!

Mark is a very experienced and serious hobbyist when it comes to photography -- I am much more of a novice although I've been interested in it for a long time. I think I have learned a lot here from looking at other Fodorites' photos (e.g. Kavey's) and reading their advice to others (e.g. in response to Roccco's inquiries).

I finally got a chance to look at these. What an incredible variety of bird life photos! I love the dwarf mongoose on the termite mound too. I tried to photograph dwarf mongoose many times but was never quick enough. I like how you've organized your site with a sightings listing and trip planning details. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks everybody! Now we have to get our Greece pics up too...

And we're already thinking about going back to Africa again sometime at the end of 2006! Not sure where yet, maybe Zambia...we'll see.
